Alumni Spotlight: Stephanie Richey
Stephanie Richey
I am an alumnus of the class of 1978 at the Schrader Lane Childcare Center under the direction of the late Barbara Thompson. I am a first-generation graduate because my son (class of 1998) and his daughter (future class of 2026) are (were) students are Schrader Lane Childcare Center.
During my time at Schrader there was only one campus; but when my son was a student, I supported the progression of the school and wrote a grant on behalf of the center that was able to kickstart the second campus at Vine Hill. Schrader Lane Childcare Center has a rich history of academic excellence and youth development. I have many fond memories like the Christmas Programs and because we got to see a Santa who looked like us. I also remember my son and I were featured in an article in the Tennessean because he was a 2nd generation alumnus and to discuss the experiences from past to present.
What I appreciate most about Schrader Lane Childcare Center were the friendships that developed there and have remained over the years. My favorite teacher the late Ms. Holmes. She was a teacher and served as the center’s cook!
Schrader Lane Childcare Center is an exceptional school, and the legacy is sure to continue for generations to come.
